Refunds & Cancellation
How to cancel, what comes back, how long it takes, and the cases where we refund without being asked.
Drafted against
- Consumer Protection Act, 2019
- Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 — rules 4(3) and 5(3)
- Reserve Bank of India directions on refunds to the original payment instrument
Cancelling
You can cancel a subscription at any time, from inside the product or by emailing contact@mallahsoftware.com. We do not ask for a reason, we do not route you through a retention call, and cancelling is not harder than subscribing was — rule 4(3) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 does not permit us to make it so.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep access until then. Nothing renews after that.
What comes back
| Situation | What you get |
|---|---|
| You cancel within 7 days of a first-time purchase | A full refund, no questions. This applies once per organisation, to the first paid subscription. |
| You cancel a monthly plan after 7 days | No refund for the current month. Access continues to the end of it, and nothing further is charged. |
| You cancel an annual plan after 7 days | A pro-rata refund of the whole calendar months remaining, calculated from the end of the current month. |
| We increase the price mid-term | We do not. A price change applies at renewal, with notice. |
| We remove a material feature you were relying on | Cancel and take a pro-rata refund of the unused term — this is in the Terms too. |
| We terminate for a reason that is not your breach | A pro-rata refund of the unused term. |
| You were charged twice, or charged after cancelling | The full amount back. Tell us and we will not argue about it. |
| A statutory penalty you say our software caused | Not a refund matter. The Terms explain why, and the Disclaimer explains what the software is and is not for. |
If we bill you in error, if a payment is captured twice, or if we take money after a cancellation has taken effect, we refund it when we find it. We do not wait for you to notice.
How long it takes
Refunds go back to the original payment instrument, as the Reserve Bank of India requires — we cannot send a card refund to a bank account or to anyone other than the payer.
- We initiate an approved refund within 3 working days of approving it.
- It then takes 5 to 10 working days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer. That part is not ours to speed up.
- We will give you the payment-gateway reference so you can chase your own bank if it stalls.
Trials, and why we prefer them
Every product offers a trial without a card — fourteen days on Lawzer and Regulane, a free tier on CertNotify and MADBOT. Use it. A trial that ends without a card being charged is better for both of us than a refund conversation, and it is the reason our refund policy can afford to be short.
Taxes on a refund
The company has no GSTIN yet, so invoices carry no GST and a refund is simply the amount you paid. Once GST registration is granted, a refund will be processed with a credit note and the tax component returned with it, in the manner the GST law requires.
If you disagree with a decision
Write to the Grievance Officer. The clocks and the escalation routes on the grievance page apply to a refund complaint exactly as they do to any other — acknowledged in 24 hours, disposed of in 15 days, and the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 is available to you whatever we decide.
